Have you ever met a person who embodies spiritual refinement? I have met some. They impressed me with their peaceful demeanor, their gentle speech and kindliness. Several were laypeople; others were monks and nuns. All of them had been doing meditation and other types of spiritual practices for many years. They were truly inspiring. Their spirituality had a beauty about it which has stayed with me.
We humans like to celebrate violence and war and those who do evil. All of this is destructive and cruel and truly ugly. Why not focus on working on one's spiritual evolution instead? The end product of such effort is a beauty that lifts the darkness of the world and improves one's life and the world itself.
